Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” James 2:8 (New Living Translation)
Even after our great time away camping, it was wonderful to meet on Sunday arvo and be reminded that (Christian) love is free, not fair. There is nothing 'fair' about how Jesus has loved us, and nothing 'fair' about the love he calls us to!
It's been wonderful to read through a book of the Bible each month as a church. This month the book of James is wonderfully reflecting the teachings of Jesus that we are feasting on each Sunday.
Watching this Introduction to James video will help you get your head around James, especially if you're new to the Bible or Christianity.
Many people love GATHERING with us on the beach! It's a beautiful and enjoyable way to follow Jesus together. However, our other two rhythms, KNOWING Jesus and INVITING others into our lives are just as important in the life of all Jesus-followers.
I want to encourage you all to follow along with us each month reading the books of the Bible that Kate has selected for us and watching videos like the one above. Every one of these simple actions affirms that "Yes! I'm taking personal spiritual responsibility for getting to KNOW Jesus more each day, month and year of my life".

P.S. As we all agreed two Sundays ago $1,000 has been withdrawn to give to two families ($500 each): one local to us and one planting a similar church to ours in Bundaberg. Excitingly, we just heard that two ladies powerfully came to faith this week at their Monday night Bible study!
Learning to Read the Bible
Most Aussies aren't familiar with the Bible or its context. Even those of us who, like myself, have grown up in church, can easily misunderstand it.
Many of you would know of Francis Chan, an experienced pastor who now leads churches with a similar heart to ours. He has partnered with the Bible Project team (who made the James video) to create the Read Scripture App.
For those of us who are looking for ways to go deeper into KNOWING Jesus through the Bible, I'd encourage you to get this app (or one like it) and dive right in!
