“And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.” (Mark 14:26)

Ahoy Church,

This Sunday we gather from 3pm at the Caloundra CCSA Hall. The hall is located at 1 Nutley St, Caloundra near The Events Centre. Plenty of parking is available onsite! We’ll aim to start with communion from 330pm.

Because there is less space outside than the farm and park, we will start at 3 pm with a simple afternoon tea (bring something to share) and kick into worship around 330-ish - a bit earlier than normal.

As per our SMS today, you can find this months playlist at www.openroad.church/worship! Listen, learn and prepare your heart to sing together…just like Jesus might have if he was with us.

---

I’ve recently investigated a lecture series exploring what the first Christians did when they gathered for “church”. One of the key questions is, “How and where did they worship?”. Some of the answers to this question have surprised me, and I hope to share some of what I’m learning soon.

However, after reading the gospel of John this morning and considering how Jesus modelled ‘worship’ to us, I couldn’t recall if there were any examples of Jesus singing songs with his disciples. I was slightly humbled to be reminded that, yes, he certainly did sing with those closest to him after sharing in his final [Passover] meal.

It was a great reminder that as we gather each month to swap stories, pray and share food, the Lords’ Supper and sing together we are very simply following Jesus example. Gathering is one of the most simple and significant models of faith given to us by Jesus and all those who loved him since his resurrection.

Cheers + see you Sunday!

Dan

Many of you know about the recent fatal car crash in which two young men many within our church know well. Sadly, Broc passed at the scene. Jet, his mate, sustained some permanent injuries and is currently navigating his new ‘normal’. Many have supported Broc’s GoFundMe. Anyone who wants to support Jet in is recovery can give at the link below.
