Like all Christian gatherings of the last 2,000 years, when we gather together, we pray. When we meet on Sundays, you're invited to pray for those you speak with or share a prayer publicly during our gathering time.

While the Bible is clear that prayer is supposed to be normal for Christians, just like the disciples ("Teach us to pray, Jesus"), we often need to be very intentional in learning to pray! While there are many ways to pray, and how we pray changes with each season of life, sometimes we need others to pray for us.

"14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."
James 5:14-15

In James chapter 5 we see that there are also specific reasons to ask for prayer, including when we're sick and seek God's miraculous healing. This practice of asking for prayer from the church elders with anointing oil is a treasured part of following Jesus together as a church.

In line with Jesus' practice of praying for healing, and the Bible's guidance, we are making a special point to pray for the sick this Sunday.

While I believe it's fantastic for any Christian to pray for healing in any circumstance, in James chapter 5 people with a special need for healing seek a special prayer from the church elders.

While we can't manufacture or guarantee miracles, we can lovingly obey the guidance of God through his word, the Bible. Prayer in this manner is simply obeying, in faith, God's blueprint for his people.

Interestingly, this is what a lot of the Christian life is - lovingly obeying Jesus in everything he has called us to. While we may never understand everything about prayer and faith that we don't understand, let's get busy doing the things we are called to do.

So join us this Sunday, bring encouragement for someone or a story to share, and be sure to request prayer if you are sick.

For any other prayer needs, as Fred shared on Sunday, he and his prayer group would love to pray for any needs you share with them! HIT REPLY if you'd like Fred + co to pray for you.

Finally, if you're new to prayer, read more about prayer on our website, or watch the video below to learn WHY and HOW we can pray.

Cheers and see you Sunday!
