“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.” - Psalm 145:4
Ahoy Church,
What a joy to celebrate Jesus together on Sunday. Celebrating Easter reminds me that we’re celebrating within a long line of Judeo-Christian history. For us to celebrate Jesus on an Aussie beach in 2025, a series of wonderful sacrifices and salvations have taken place.
Aside from the moving and shaking of nations, God has used everyday men and women like each of us to proclaim the message of Jesus. As Fred reminded us a few weeks ago, only 80 generations separate us from Christ himself! From that perspective, enough people in each generation have taken the courageous step to share Jesus with the next generation!
This pattern of responsibility for the coming generations perfectly expresses Jesus’ command to go and “make disciples” - helping others come to faith in Jesus and follow him in all of life. We should make it our goal to clearly and courageously align our own lives with this grand purpose of Christ.
On Palm Sunday, Jared shared how Jesus invites us, no matter how unqualified we feel, to join him in his mission on earth. In the same way, he entered Jerusalem on a donkey, not a golden chariot, he’s willing to work with any of us, no matter how much of a “donkey” we may feel at times 🙂
In fact, for 80 generations, it’s largely been donkeys like you and I who’ve willingly and courageously been the people Jesus has used to pass on his message of life, love, freedom and truth.
As many of you head back to work or study, if you are willing, take time to offer yourself to God as we seek to pass on faith in him to the 81st generation since Jesus gave his life for a world of donkeys like you and I.
Lastly, to meet government requirements, we need to update our constitution as a legally constituted Qld Baptist Church. We've taken the guide of Qld Baptist, and, with a few small changes of our own, have finalised our new church constitution (below) that we need our church members to formally adopt.
One Sunday soon we will take a moment to vote in the adoption of the new constitution. For all those who are legal members (required for us to be a formal church), you can review the constitution before we vote.
Cheers and God Bless,
Dan
P.S. It's exciting that Lachlan is preaching for the first time this weekend! Why not pray for him as he leads us this Sunday and grows the gifts God has placed within him.
Jesus: Choose the narrow gate
This week we look at one of the warnings of Jesus! Want to learn from Jesus, join us, and ask God to show you the way forward into every part of the freedom Jesus offers us.
“Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” - Matthew 7:13-14
