Ahoy Jesus people,
It was wonderful to gather again on Sunday - without any rain until 6pm! I was greatly encouraged by not just stories of what God is doing in many lives, but how excited people were to receive Jesus' encouragement to boldly ask God to meet their needs!
And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
- Jesus, Luke 11:9
In Luke chapter 11 verses 1 to 13 Jesus implores you and I to boldly pray to God. After introducing the Our Father prayer Jesus illustrates that he wants us to ask God (prayer!) to meet our needs as though we were hungry children!
Is that how you and I always pray? Do you always ask God for what you want, just like a hungry child? If you're like most Christians, no!
However, Jesus doesn't just stop at the command to ask. He continues by imploring us to also seek and to knock.
Jesus gave us meaningful work to do in this life and he says that when we encounter him, he sets us free to truly live! It makes sense then that he so strongly commands us to not just ask, but to seek and to knock. Jesus has called us to follow him not chill for him. He taught us to walk in faith, not hide in fear.
In other words, you're free to ask for what you want, pursue what you're looking for and knock on doors you've always wondered about.
If you're in need, ask.
If you're lost, seek.
If you're wondering, knock.
Get free in Jesus.
